Oklahoma
Big Big Win!
Thoughts from Adam
I like the more aggressive play calling (quick snap on 4th and 4), I like the emotion out of Bronco, I like that the defense, stopped a top 5 team in the country 6 times on the goal and held them to a field goal.
I like that we won.

The class of 2005: are they still Staying Alive
Next up we look at the class of 2005. This was Bronco's first recruiting class and the first chance to correct the wrongs of the he who shall not be named. Bronco introduced the stripling warrior mantra and reintroduced the classic uniforms. So far, here is his first class:
The Hits: just ask steve tate if these guys can hit!
Harvey Unga: 488 attempts 2,368 yards 25 tds 86 receptions 964 yards and 1 posterizing hit on steve tate
Jan Jorgensen: MWC all-time sack leader, 24 sacks, 165 tackles, 1 blocked kick
Matt Reynolds: Freshman All-American and best offensive lineman in 2008
The Contributors: Not all-stars but still playing well
Russell Tialavea
Manase Tonga (fingers crossed)
Spencer Hafoka
Luke Ashworth
Vic So'oto
Stephen Covey (scout team Heisman)
Shawn Doman
Graduated: alot of people go to school for 7 years. Yes, they are called doctors.
Justin Robinson: (its sad when you wish our corners would play more like a guy who is 5'7" and 165 pounds and you would gladly take him over them.)
Sete Aulai: (carried on the Jake Kuresa Drive-killing personal foul legacy)
Chris Bolden: very good player when he graduated. ex-marine as well.
Still in the program: still time to improve
Brandon Howard
Kyle Luekenga
Terrence Hooks
The misses: B12! miss!!
Peter Vailahi
Cade Hulbert
What does it all mean?
As you can see already, the 2005 class is much better than the 2004 class. What it lacks in potential felons and police reports, it makes up for it in consistency and contributors. There are only 2 guys who never made it in to school and there are many others who are consistent contributors to the team. You have 3 superstars in Harvey, Matt and Jan also and these guys have fared much better. Bronco got a good but not spectacular class in his first time out as the head man which has helped turn BYU around.

Signing Day 2009
Why am I writing this post? I am really bored and sick of studying so I figured I would try something new and review prior recruiting classes starting with Gary Crowtons last recruiting class. You know, the one that included gang rape and and got Mr. Crowton to "resign" and start coaching elsewhere.
The Hits: The guys who panned out.
Todd Watkins: 2 year starter 101 receptions 1720 yards 15 TD
Rey Feinga: 4 Year Starter and winner of Jake Kuresa Drive Killing-Personal Fouls Memorial award.
Austin Collie: All-time leading receiver at BYU 215 receptions 3,255 yards 30 TDS 106 Rushing Yards 1,288 return yards and 45,000 angry Yewt fans.
Michael Reed: 136 Receptions 1649 Receiving Yards 10 Touchdowns and the Lance Taylor Most underutilized player in BYU history Award.
The Contributors: guys who got a senior blanket.
Vince Feula
Gary Lovely
Justin Luettgerodt
Jason Beck
Riley Weber
Still in the Program: you went on a 2 or 3 year mission?
Matt Putnam
Grant Nelson
Nick Alletto
The Jailbirds: signed for 4 years, almost got 10-15 years
Ibrahim Rashada
Karland Bennett
BJ Mathis
Billy Turner
The transfers: all my bags are packed
Isley Filiaga: transferred to the dark side and sold soul
Antwaun Harris: xferred to Oklahoma State
Jacob Bower: how is the bench in Tulsa better than the Bench in Provo?
The Misses: didn't see the field but probably went to BYU for the MRS.
Billy Skinner
Travis Brown
Joe Griffin
Gregory Lovely
Michael Morris
Nick Longshore
Terence Brown
Drew Muggleston
Eddie Scipio
What does it mean?
It is hard to fathom that the same recruiting class that produced the all-time leading receiver and a 4 year starter on the line, a NFL caliber wide receiver, and a very good wide receiver in Michael Reed could be considered the worst in recent memory but, it is. First of all, you have 4 guys who were arressted and jailed before the first game. They were never convicted but they also will not be contacting you for a donation to BYU. Second, you have 3 guys who transferred to different schools and so far none of them have really contributed to that school. Third, There are many guys on here who never saw the field under any circumstances. They stayed a year and either quit for injuries or quit the team. Time will tell with the 3 holdovers still in the program but this year was not a great year for BYU recruiting. Next up 2005 Broncos First class.

Real Men of Genius
Real Men of Genius.)
Today we salute you, Mr. Texas Christian Offensive Coordinator.
(Mr. Texas Christian Offensive Coordinator!!)
Down after down, drive after drive, you dial up the perfect plays-to not put points on the board.
(That’s execution)
When you get the chance to step on the opponent’s throat and go up 17-6, your wide-open receiver finally catches the ball … just out of bounds.
(That line is so hard to see!)
While conventional wisdom says moving forward on third down is important you have vision to say ‘au contraire.’
(What’s French for ‘out of field goal range’?)
And when the chips are down and all you need is a pair of 30-yard field goals to put the game away …
(oh, we’re so close!)
You get to show everyone why that fan kicking contest you heard about was such a bad idea.
(Why can’t Texans make a field goal?)
So keep directing those might Horned Frogs, oh titan of the frozen tundra, because you have to know when Gary Patterson moves on for that big BCS contract there’s no way he’s talking you with him.
